Renovating -> Diverse City

Well, the title is somewhat of a joke, however, there is a bit of truth behind it. I actually have renovated this site. If you look to the Right, You'll notice a sidebar. If you can't find it, you are an idiot.
That sidebar has been there for a while, but now it has been modefied! Now a couple of archiving features (and links, Sorry Acrix!), and there is now a cbox. This feature has been implemented before, but it was a chatterbox hosted by flooble and it always lagged when it went to that section. Well, now it's just as fast as the blog itself and it blends in very well. You can use that to quickly post messages and comments to me that either have no relation to a post or want to ask me a question. I put in a couple of things in there, but it comes out in reverse order, so just bear with it.
Now, Go! Go and spread the news of how great my blog is and let me get ads that will give me money!

What! Updating! Why!!!!!!!!!

Well, I've done it. I've managed to take away all of my readers by not updating. Why? I'm not busy. Well, yes, I am, but not enough to stop writing here. I've stoped because of the obvious lack of privacy at my house. I need some kind of way to privately write here. I can't go to the library: It's simply too far away. And because of the school district's strict polacy of not allowing anyone to have any access to any online publishing facuilities (which had remarkably even blocked my beta Google page Creator!), I can't access Blogger. Perhaps I can use audioblogger or even that SMS-to-Blog feature. Oh wait, I need a cell phone for that!

Now for the somewhat tabular list of things that ave happened to me:

  • Evil of all evils! My dad took away my cell phone because he broke his own and is too stupid to get a rugedized one!
  • I got some great games!
    • Ranger X - The absolute best platformer ever. Even better then Burning Heroes because not only does it have giant robots, ancient evil, a major cool ending boss, and real-time 3D back when it was thought to be impossible. Plus: A bike that's even cooler then Cloud Strife's.
    • Xenogears - The game with the absolute most conflects ever. There are so many problems with Fei (Including his full name - Fei Fong Wong ... ?), it's unbelievable. Now he discovers that he and one other girl are the only real humans on the earth, and even then, they were all created as part of a Weapons system so Great and dangerous, that they called it 'god!?' There's a reason why Xenogears is concidered the best game ever, and it's not only the fact that the art was done by Akira Toriyama (the maker of Dragonball, DBZ, DBGT)
    • Shining in the Darkness - The predasessor to Shining Force. Awesomeness just eminates from it!
  • I visited (am visiting) my grandma's house.
  • I got an awesome new MP3/ATRAC3plus CD Player!

(Image courtacy of crap-o-vision)

And I wrote this review about it!

The Sony CD Walkman D-NE329SP is pure genious. To an extent.

tabular formated features:

  • Plays:
    • Audio CD-DA
    • MP3 (MPEG-1 Layer 3, MPEG-2 Layer 3, and MPEG-2.3 layer 3)
    • ATRAC3plus (at 32, 64, and 128 b/s)
  • LCD On-Screen Display
  • Clearbass
  • 3^3-point equalizer
  • Fifty million 1/2 different play modes
  • Bookmarking
  • Memory holding
  • A hold switch
  • Digital Volume control
  • Multiple search options
  • ~90 hours of playback time (if in 32kb/s ATRAC3plus)
  • SonicStage Software
  • The Sony Walkman Brand (Get it? A joke.)
  • Speakers!
    • Auxilary input
    • Acts as a charging station

This is actually a very good player. It plays all my MP3 files without really needing any prompting other than pressing the "Play" button.
The OSD is small, well managed, and, although you need to read the instructions to access all of the features, simple to use. It may be a bit superfluous, though. It has a list view so that you can see what's in the list, but it's totally useless because it doesn't let you see what's next!
The search function is pretty nice, but really, it's best if you just use it so that you can see what's next. It has a directory mode so that you can see all of the files, supposedly. I really havn't seen the need to waste a DVD to try it out.
The Biggest thing agenst this player actually turns out to be why I bought it in the first place. I got it for the formats of music that it will play. It, like about any other 'digital music player' that you can buy, totally bites the dust as far as formats that it plays. You see, it doesn't play Ogg Vorbis. I'm crying behind this sheild of solid writing. Why can't any one see that it would be beneficial to let your player play the most efficient format in the world? Surely it would be easer to impliment then ATRAC3plus!? I mean, seriously! Who, besides Sony, plays that format!? It took forever for people to learn how to hack it just in order to let realplayer play some very simple formats of ATRAC! Does anyone even know how to transcode to or from it? No! The only real way to do so is to use a patch cable and a recorder, which will make you lose quality.

Now for a totally relavant comment:
BAN MICROSOFT WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER AND IT'S FILES!!!!!

At least it didn't support WMA.

But on the other side, ATRAC3plus coding is very good. I had taken a random MP3 file from off of the internet and had transcoded it to 64Kb/s ATRAC3plus and it had not only halved the filesize, but had actually made the song sound better. That may just be attributed to those Psychoacustic Waves I've heard about, though.
must buy sony, must buy sony, must buy sony....
(What a pitiful joke.)

The CD player also comes with a(n) amplified (or not) speaker stand, which it just snaps to. The explination to the previous ()'d items is that it can be amplified if you plug it into the wall with the AC adaptor, or you can just take it with you and listen to music out loud, just at a lower volume.
The nice thing about the power adaptor going in there is that you can just switch it over to 'off' and charge it from there, or keep listening without consuming more battery power. Or you can just plug the adaptor directly into the player. Sony was really forward-thinking about that, for in case you lose your speaker stand.
Speaking of power, this walkman's very good about power consumption. it only requires one battery. Even the power adaptor only uses three volts.

All in all, this Walkman pretty much rocks. With some rather annoying problems with ATRAC, and my bios away from the evil Sony Corp., it still gets my rating of about 85%. That's the highest rating that I've ever given to any music player ever.
